Stress
Can Be A Bad Thing
Stress not only comes from bad things, it also comes from good things.
We as a people have never been in such a rush as we are today. It’s always
“Hurry Up and Wait”. We get a doctor’s appointment and we plan our time around the appointment only to wait for 45 mins. to an hour just to see the Dr.
Or when our automobile quits and we find that it will be a week before the garage can start work on it.
You go to an emergency room only to wait. Sick as you are they seem to get in no hurry.
This all brings anxiety to our life.
- The definition of stress is:
mental or emotional tension or strain characterized
by feelings of anxiety, fear, etc. b) a factor or combination of factors that causes
such tension or strain, as an urgent need or perceived threat c) Psychol. a condition
typically characterized by symptoms of mental and physical tension or strain, as
depression or hypertension, that can result from a reaction to a situation in which
a person feels threatened, pressured, etc.
Sadly, much of our problem is caused by factors that are frequently out of
our control. Like: financial pressures, martial and family problems, work
related demands, and even having to confront commuter traffic every day.
This Can Wire Us Up.
We have to watch for "Road Rage" as we drive now days, and how many of us has
to deal with a demanding boss or,(demanding spouses),
rebellious children, overdue bills, and impending deadlines?
Just listening to the evening news can even cause our heart to beat faster
The feeling of helplessness not only comes from bad things, but also comes from good things.
Like: a new baby, job promotion, wedding, going to school (especially in your
later years), change of residence.
So we can see that good things bring added
responsibilities, thus hidden causes of stress.
Women are at a greater risk than men for these related problems.
So how does this candition affect health?
Our Adrenal Glands becomes over stimulated
and leaves us with symptoms like:
chronic fatigue, irritability, anxiety,
panic attacks, tantrums, insomnia, nervous exhaustion or break down, inability to
relax, pacing, twitching, depression, and feelings of helplessness.
It can act like a slow poison, even to the healthy organs (kind of like being pecked to death by a chicken).
Let me tell you some problems that can triger some of the
signs of stress:
alcoholism, back pain, cancer, colitis, depression, diabetes, heart
disease, hypertension, hypoglycemia, kidney problems, mental disorders, migraine, premature aging, stomach disorders, strokes, and ulcers.
Some once said: stress doesn’t cause any health problems. But as you can see,
it causes all kinds of problems.
The next question is,
How to deal with stress,?
Tranquilizers and
anti-depressants like Prozac, Valium, or lithium are not the answer. These can cause
bad side effects such as: memory impairment, dizziness, depression, insomnia,
hallucinations, blurred vision, brain damage, violence, and in some cases, increase
anxiety.
In looking for ways to manage stress the first step is to find the source of the pressure.
Stop the cause and we will stop the symptoms.
Firstly avoid refined foods
such as sugar and baked goods, as
well as inflammatory foods such as caffeine, alcohol, dairy, and animal products.
Increase foods that nourish the nervous system, such as whole grains, fresh fruits
and vegetables, and foods rich in essential fatty acids, such as nuts, seeds, and
cold water fish.
Have you noticed how everything is depending on you diet?
Now a
little red meat here and there will not hurt, but it does take more to digest than raw
fruits and vegetables. The meat also needs to be grass fed.
Next we need to look at some ways to relieve the tension and we will start with vitamins
for stress.
- Vitamin A is quickly depleted when the body is under a load.
- B-Complex
is known as the “stress vitamins”.
- If teenagers are involved I would suggest giving them a good B-Complex Vitamin to help with the moodiness.
- Folic Acid
helps with mood disorders.
- Pantothenic Acid
helps to reduce anxiety and promotes sleep.
- Choline and Inositol
works together to strengthen the nervous system.
- Vitamin C stimulates the Adrenal function.
- Vitamin E
protects the Endocrine system and also strengthen the heart muscle.
For more anxiety relief tips we will look at Minerals that
are needed and they are:
*Calcium, which is needed to maintain nervous system
*Potassium, helps to
maintain alkalinity of the blood and contributes to the detoxification of tissues.
*Zinc nourishes the thymus gland which produces T-cells for the immune system. Over
65 enzymes in the body rely on Zinc for their chemical activity.
*Iron aids in the formation of hemoglobin which carries oxygen in the blood to the
cell’s body.
*Selenium helps to protect the immune system from breaking down.
*Essential Fatty Acids helps to prevent accumulation of cholesterol on artery
walls.
Now this is only a start for you to work with. Using this knowledge and adding to it will help you to live in a stressful time and be healthy. “GOD BLESS”
